Wikiversity:Fellow-Programm Freies Wissen/Einreichungen/An open-access database for understanding and tackling antimicrobial resistance in the environment
An open-access database for understanding and tackling antimicrobial resistance in the environment[Bearbeiten]Projektbeschreibung[Bearbeiten]Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is the most challenging threat to public health in the 21st Century. Despite antimicrobials having existed for fewer than 100 years, their benefits are becoming obsolete partially due to their misuse and abuse in healthcare and in the agricultural industry. As a by-product of these human activities, antimicrobial-resistant bacteria have been found in the environment, including wastewater. The quality and amount of data freely and openly available to relevant stakeholders about this topic are scarce. Therefore, our current understanding and fight against antimicrobial resistance in the environment are hindered. Further, making data collected from study participants openly and freely available while complying with current data privacy policies is challenging. The overall aim of this project is to make data collected from study participants in the AWARE study (Antimicrobial Resistance in Wastewater) freely and openly available for researchers, teachers, students, and other stakeholders to use while complying with current regulations regarding data privacy of study participants.
