Open Source Building Information Modelling in research and teaching[Bearbeiten]Projektbeschreibung[Bearbeiten]Compared to other fields, the AEC (architecture, engineering and construction) industry does not nurture a particularly open culture. This affects both research and teaching in an obstructive way with regard to accessibility, reproducibility and participation. Under the umbrella term OpenBIM, various standards around data exchange have been developed to foster interoperability between software tools and participating organizations in construction projects. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a method to ensure continuous digital flow of information throughout construction projects. BIM itself is about open standards, but in the wake of world-wide adoption of the BIM method with stimulation through national programs and regulations, an open source and open data niche ecosystem has developed, which is particularly valuable for research and teaching.
